But my path to the British culture didn't stop there, as a kid I also consume some important tv shows from that country, shows such as "Doctor Who", which was probably the very first tv show I obsessed with. Later on, I remember I discovered "Mr Bean", and "Sherlock" (the BBC series) which were very influential programs for me because they marked me and forged a big part of my personality, such as my kind of humour, or my perceptive and sceptical way of looking the persons and the world in general.
Besides pop culture I know some other things about England, I know for example that many cultures arrived at the island at a very early period of human history, cultures such as the Romans, the Angles, Saxons and the Jutes; all migrations that forged the English language. I also admired the fact that England was so fundamental to our recent history, the industrial revolution that began there change the world forever and for me is really wonderful to notice that something so big started on that little island in the north of the world!
In terms of geopolitics, I know that England is part of the United Kingdom, a sovereign country that consists of four countries: England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. For me, that was something really strange when I was a kid, and yet today it confuses me a little bit!
If I had the chance to travel to England, I would love to go to all the other countries that form the United Kingdom to see all those magical landscapes, the British gardens and the old castles in which so many legends and fairy tales happened.
One of the most important goals of my life is to study and work there, as a student of Anthropology I know that England, since the beginning of the discipline, has been a very important and active place, many relevant professionals and experts of Anthropology are from England, and actually, many of the best universities in the world to study that career are in that country, so study and work there would be definitely a great experience!
Studying anthropology in England would be amazing! I hope you can achieve it.
